Dump Road, a colloquial name given to a section of Old Chief Ladiga Trail for its past problems with litter, has been host to several ghostly happenings. The most common report is of people in old-fashioned clothing walking along the road, but there have also been claims of horrible screams ringing out along the path. An old slave's quarter is alleged to have stood on the road, and some visitors say they have seen the apparition of a slave being hanged. There have also been tales of mysterious lanterns and torches bouncing about the trail, and campers say they awoken to the feeling of a heavy presence.
